Projects

Since the start of COVID19, we have been extremely lucky to have been able to continue to work on a number of tourism and heritage related projects within Herefordshire, Shropshire and the Welsh Borders.

We continue to enjoy working on projects that enhance the visitor experience, whether that be face to face or digitally.

New for 2023
We are excited to be working with the Midlands based Info-Point team to help promote and develop this relatively new multimedia device, which is ideal for churches that have a story to tell, as well as any other heritage sites of interest.

Info-Point - Site specific, multimedia content to visitor's own devices.
www. info-point.com

Info-point is a simple-to-use, self-contained Wi-Fi system with its own private and secure local internet.

You can connect to the Info-Point Wi-Fi with a mobile device and easily access your (and only your) content from any browser.

Every info-point has a range of up to 250 metres, which can be boosted by adding info-point extenders. info-point content is easy to upload and edit using a browser.

What you share on an info-point is only limited by your imagination!
For indoor and outdoor use, especially for churches and other heritage sites. Solar-powered options available.

Discover Churches in Herefordshire and Shropshire

www.discoverchurches.co.uk

This Heritage Lottery Funded Project started back in November 2019, when the world was much different.

Working on behalf of Herefordshire and Shropshire Churches Tourism Groups, in partnership with Hereford Diocese, Herefordshire Historic Churches Trust, the Church Visitor & Tourism Association (CVTA) and National Churches Trust, we are working on a number of project outcomes such as:

  • Providing Contactless Giving points and Electronic Visitor Counters into 10 Churches
  • Organising a programme of 12 tourism training workshops to support church volunteers
  • Developing a branding and marketing action plan
  • Creating a series of bookable experiences and themed trails connecting member churches
  • Producing a Church Tourism Handbook
  • Arranging a National Church Tourism Conference to showcase completed project.

Herefordshire Walking Festival

www.herefordshirewalkingfestival.co.uk

Due to the sad loss of HWFs original co-ordinator, Herefordshire Walking Festival last took place in 2017. In 2020, we contacted the committee to suggest re starting the festival ready for 2021 in hope that COVID19 would be behind us and visitors to Herefordshire would like to come and explore the county on foot during 19th and 27th June 2021.

We were inundated with walk entries with over 50 volunteer walk leaders sending in their walk ideas. Herefordshire Walking Festival not only increases awareness of countryside access in Herefordshire, but also showcases the history & heritage of the county through walks focussing on the archaeology, geology, ornithology, heritage, estate management, photography, local heroes, literature & landscape.

Shobdon Church Heritage Project

The Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage was part of the £1.57 billion rescue package announced by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to safeguard cultural and heritage organisations across the UK from the economic impact of COVID-19.

St John the Evangelist, Shobdon Church PCC were one of the few churches to receive this Recovery Fund for Heritage last year and we are working closely together with them on a number of outcomes such as:

  • Organising a series of chargeable online events
  • Installing a Contactless Giving machine to help increase donations
  • Looking to engage with Shobdon residents and local businesses for future support
  • Improving the church welcome and telling the story with digital interpretation.

Since the start of COVID19, we have been extremely lucky to have been able to continue to work on a number of tourism and heritage related projects within Herefordshire, Shropshire and the Welsh Borders.
