Music & Literature Group Itinerary

Although this area of Great Britain is hugely undiscovered, many literary and musical greats took advantage of this throughout the years and let their creativity evolve into some of the worlds greatest masterpieces and it all started here…
Edward_ElgarMeet your tour guide in Malvern to start the wonderful Music and Literature guided tour. Take in the scenery of the Malvern Hills that inspired Sir Edward Elgar, Charles Dickens, Dame Laura Knight and A.E Houseman on their travels. Not to forget poet William Langland who was possibly the first to celebrate the Malverns.
Visit Worcester Cathedral where many a concert was played whilst Elgar lived in the area, then head west and find out where it all started at Elgar’s Birthplace.
Check into your accommodation for your first nights stay in an area that captured the imagination of the ‘Dymock Poets‘ who generally comprised of Robert Frost, Lascelles Abercrombie, Rupert Brooke, Edward Thomas, Wilfrid Wilson Gibson and John Drinkwater.
Travel to John Masefield and Elizabeth Barrett Browning country, with a stop in the historical bustling town of Ledbury.
Then head west to the city of Hereford with its iconic Cathedral on the River Wye and discover the picturesque landscape of Kington and Hay on Wye that the likes of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Rev Frances Kilvert,  E. J. Moeran, William Wordsworth and Thomas Treherne once travelled – where very little has changed the rolling rural countryside.
Not to forget the present day talents of musician Mike Oldfield with Tubular Bells, Mott the Hoople, Ellie Goulding and supernatural and mystery novel author Phil Rickman.
