CBSO Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto at Birmingham Symphony Hall

Andrew Gourlay – Conductor                      Benjamin Beilman – Violin

Dvořák Wind Serenade, 23′           Dvořák Symphony No. 8, 36′          Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E minor, 27′

A quiet hymn, a flurry of birdsong, a dance rhythm… and Dvořák’s Eighth Symphony is on its way. If the Ninth Symphony is the most famous, the Eighth has got to be his happiest, and our guest conductor Andrew Gourlay loves it. Dvořák’s playful Wind Serenade launches a concert bursting with melody: to have Benjamin Beilman playing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto is just a wonderful bonus!
