Today is a rather exciting day at Blaenavon World Heritage Site.
On arrival we have morning coffee/tea with Welsh cakes arranged, before stepping aboard Blaenavon Heritage Railway.
We will board the train to High Level, which takes us along the bottom of the Coity Mountain with fantastic views, then travel along until we reach the station to disembark at Big Pit.
Here we will have time for lunch. There is a café and miners canteen to chose from.
After lunch explore the Pithead Baths exhibition and King Coal which is an above ground experience. If we are feeling really brave, we can even take the underground tour. There maybe a queue, so please allow time if this would be something you would like to do (optional at no extra cost).
Then, there is even more excitement as we have been booked into Rhymney Brewery for a tour of the brewery and Visitor exhibition.
The tour includes a half pint of beer ( I was apprehensive about booking the pint tour!) There is also a shop and bar here for any last minute presents.
